Orkla Industrial Museum
Through the Thamshavn railway and the Old Mine, Orkla Industrimuseum communicates industrial history in the southern part of Trøndelag. Orkla Industrimuseum is located right in the center of Løkken Verk, where you will find exhibitions of mining operations at Løkken Verk and Thamshavnbanen.
The Thamshavn railway, the world’s oldest AC-powered railway, has regular scheduled trains during the summer season and runs between Bårdshaug at Orkanger to Løkken Verk. The narrow-gauge museum railroad winds through a diverse landscape on the journey.
In the old mine, you walk in old mines and get to experience the everyday life of the old miners in Norway’s most colourful mine. The old mine has fixed opening hours in the summer, but it is possible to book guided tours throughout the year.
The exhibitions at the Orkla Industrial Museum are open year-round. In addition, Orkla Industrimuseum runs Meldal village museum and Rindal ski museum.
