The Force of Ørland
THE SCENIC PENINSULA OF
Ørland
Ørland – half way out of the Trondheim Fjord we find the beautiful peninsula Ørland and the town of Brekstad.
The landscape of Ørland is stunning! Flat fertile land meets the fjords, and grazing cattle along the scenic cropland underlines the peace and quietness that tends to characterise these coastal areas. A perfect place to hire a bike and feel the wind in your hair.
Sleep like a queen in linen cloth at the venerable Hovde Gård, a newly renovated former old housewives school with history dating back to 1923, or wake up to and enjoy the sunrise with stunning sea views at Ørland Kysthotell.
Visit the beautiful Austrått Castle from medieval times and hear the stories about one of the most powerful Norwegian women through history; Fru Inger til Austrått.
The peninsula is also an eldorado for birdwatchers and the bird conservation area of Eidsvatnet with a worked up area with a building for birdwatching is worth a visit for bird lovers,
Visit The small village of Uthaug and its historical fishing harbour and taste locally produced seafood at the docks or hire a boat and go out to one of Norways most photographed lighthouses in Norway; Kjeungskjær. The only red, octagonal lighthouse in the country.
Ørland is a place for everyone that loves enjoying nature, beautiful scenery and historical experiences, just under an hour of beautiful fjord crossing with the local ferry over Trondheim fjord from Trondheim.
