Below are some of our favorite breakfast spots:

RESTAURANT NIDELVEN (SCANDIC NIDELVEN)

Located right on the river, Restaurant Nidelven has been recognized as Norway’s Best Breakfast for 13 years in a row! This breakfast spread is one you won’t forget.

PALMEHAVEN (BRITANNIA HOTEL)

Palmehaven also is the location for the hotel’s five star breakfast, where guests can enjoy a beautifully presented buffet, with meats and cheeses from award-winning Norwegian producers. And if you feel like spoiling yourself, make reservations for Afternoon Tea  at Palmehaven every Saturday and Sunday, from 1pm to 5pm. Last seating is at 3pm.

SELLANRAA BOK & BAR

A charming café and book shop, the focus is on sustainability and almost all ingredients are sourced locally. The menu changes seasonally, and lest we forget – Sellanraa makes some of the best coffee in town and their head barista is a national champion.

ISAK´S BAKERY

Sellanraa’s sister café and bakery, located just around the corner from Sellanraa, inside the Trondheim Library (biblioteket). Choose from an array of freshly baked goods made from ancient grains and taste tea from Norway’s only Master Tea Blender, Gravraak Teatelier. The teas from Gravraak combines finely selected teas of the highest quality with local ingredients.

SELLANRAA BOK & BAR

BRASSERIE BRITANNIA

The decoratively-tiled Brasserie Britannia is an urban dining space in Trondheim with the classic bistro style. A high tempo drop-in eatery for every-man and every-woman. Informal, alive with people and pulsating with great dishes. Located in the newly renovated, Five Star Hotel, Britannia.

CAFÉ NI MUSER

Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere surrounded by a mix of art and good food in an honest way at Ni Muser. The menu is based on a lot of local ingredients, but also consists of high quality ingredients from the international cuisine. The dishes are a mix of classics and local traditions, with a little influence on French cuisine. 

BAKLANDET SKYDSSTASJON

Easily the coziest café in town is the historic Baklandet Skydsstasjon, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks in a traditional setting. This cheerful little café is based in the picturesque neighborhood of Bakklandet, near Gamle Bybro and the world’s only bike lift, Trampe. Here you can enjoy a hot meal and a warm cup of homemade cocoa while looking out over Nidarosdomen.

LILLE SKANSEN

Enjoy lunch with a view! Located in the Skansen marina on Trondheim’s Fjord, this cute little restaurant offers some fresh flavours from the sea that taste delicious without too much nonsense. Lille Skansen focuses on pure flavors while making sure the price reflects the food.

Michelin Stars

Trondheim has three stars! In February 2019, Trondheim was awarded its first two Michelin Stars: Credo and Fagn. In February, 2020 Trondheim received its third Michelin Star: Speilsalen, Britannia Hotel. These three stars are reason alone to pay a visit to Trondheim. Book your Michelin experience:


SPONTAN VINBAR

A playful concept created out of a passion for quality food and wine and have a playful approach to serving the best flavours the region has to offer. What separates Spontan is their wine list: it consists mainly of biodynamic wines, in other words, wines produced in an entirely natural way.

BULA NEOBISTRO

At Bula they like to keep it alive, and not least without boundaries. Cooking inspiration is taken from all over the world, and salt, acid and umami are used to run your taste buds properly. You will not receive a menu in advance. There’s a surprise element. 

KRAFT BODEGA

Overlooking Trondheim fjord, Kraft Bodega serves unique and delicious flavours with a killer view. The menu is inspired by the whole world, not particularly influenced by trends. The food is served just the way the staff likes it, depending of the mood of the day and always with a small dose of humor.

JOSSA

Jossa is a rustic alternative to Michelin Star restaurant, Credo, and changes the menu based on where Jossa travels. The dishes have a down-to-earth meaning to taste that little extra, striving to give you an understanding of the world through food.

TROLL

Troll is a 100 % Norwegian restaurant with an exotic twist. They serve Norwegian cuisine in a rebellious way. Their focus is on good local produce and the menu features dishes based on Norwegian culinary traditions.

JONATHAN GRILL

Jonathan Grill is the first restaurant in Norway with signature Japanese table grills, smoke-free, where you can cook your own meat, fish, seafood and vegetables. Dry-aged cuts of the finest meat and game. Norwegian seafood and hand caught shellfish, alongside the freshest local vegetables. All expertly prepared and delivered to the table, accompanied by signature sauces and sides.

KITCHEN & TABLE

Easily the best view in the city, with panoramic views of Trondheim Fjord. Kitchen and Table has an exciting menu based on fantastic regional produce, bringing together Nordic cuisine with rustic American flavours and sophisticated Asian traditions. The focus here is on locally produced, organic and sustainable food.
