Homlastien – Storfossen
Trondheim Region’s second largest waterfall!
Homlastien runs from the center of Hommelvik (approx. 30 minutes drive from Trondheim City Center) through untouched nature and ends up at beautiful waterfalls, in fact one of Trøndelag’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls – Storfossen, with a waterfall of 40 meters! Large parts of the hike go through Homla nature reserve. Bring your camera and go to Malvik for your next hiking adventure!

BY BUS OR TRAIN:
From the train station, walk 650 meters to Krana Bru (bridge) where the hike starting point is.
Park in the parking lot next to ‘Malvik jeger- og fiskerforening’. Krana Bru which is the hike starting point is located right next to the parking lot.
The trail goes from Krana Bru to Kringelmyra by Nonstadberget in Bakkdalen. The trail is approx. 6 km long and runs through hilly terrain up along the salmon river Homla. Towards the end of the path there is a small wooden bridge that crosses the river. Cross the bridge and you will shortly see the Dølanfossen waterfall. Go back over the bridge and follow the path up into the terrain before going downhill again to the Mettifossen waterfall and finally Storfossen waterfall.
SHORT HIKE ALTERNATIVE
Want to see Storfossen waterfall, but not in the mood for a long hike? No problem! From the center of Hommelvik drive along ‘Selbuvegen’ road towards Selbu. After approx. 6km there is a parking lot at Kringelmyra which lies in Bakkdalen close to Nonstadberget. From the parking lot there is only a 1km hike down to Storfossen. Note! There is steap terrain.
